About

UF COPRI

The Coasts Ocean Ports and Rivers Institute Student Chapter University of Florida (a.k.a. “The Gator Student Chapter”) was started in January 2013. The formation of the UF student chapter was made possible through the advice and support from national COPRI coordinator Angie Lander and UF Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert Dean. Special thanks is also given to ESSIE assistant to the director Carolyn Carpenter and current faculty adviser Dr. Donald Slinn.

The chapter is primary composed of Master's and PhD students pursuing degrees in in the Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering program within the University of Florida's Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and the Environment but is open to all UF graduate students. The mission of UF COPRI is focused on three primary functions:

To enhance the educational and social experience of students by providing a centralized way to organize activities

To encourage chapter members to participate in COPRI related conferences with potential financial assistance

To promote the field of engineering through outreach activities with undergraduate students and area schools
